Care home staff do incredible work looking after residents and ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
During a virus outbreak, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, cleaning can become costly and time-consuming.
The T-800 takes some of the hard work out of decontaminating spaces within care homes and making them safe for staff and residents.
For those in supported accommodation and retirement communities, the increased level of independence can pose certain problems during a virus outbreak.
Why is the T-800 suitable for disinfecting care homes?
The T-800 can help to provide peace of mind in retirement communities, ensuring that communal spaces are safe and free to enjoy.
Upon delivery of the T-800 robot, a member of the Hunter UV team will train the required personnel and demonstrate how it operates.
Any member of staff at your care home can be trained to use the device.
We designed it to be as simple as possible with our four-step process:
- Firstly, the T-800 should be placed in the room you would like to disinfect, for example, a resident’s room, or a communal area such as a dining room or living space.
- Then, the robot can be connected via a Wi-Fi-enabled tablet.
- Once the robot is in position and you have chosen from the various disinfection cycles, the operator can leave the room and start the cycle.
- Once complete, the T-800 is ready to be used elsewhere in the care home.
What happens when a case has been confirmed in a care home?
Certain groups of people are at a higher risk of contracting a virus in a care home setting, these include:
- Anyone who is categorised as clinically extremely vulnerable that may fall under the UK Government’s shielding guidance
- Anyone over the age of 70, regardless of medical conditions
- Anyone aged under 70 with an underlying health condition
While these groups are at greater risk, it is vital to keep all spaces within a care home environment clean during an outbreak.
Patient rooms, bathrooms, over-bed tables, resident call bells, toilet handles, bed rails, lifts, handrails, desk phones, tablets, desktops, keyboards, living areas, kitchens, dining areas, and waiting areas must all be disinfected.
We understand this can feel like an overwhelming task, particularly in a care home environment where staff work hard to keep patients relaxed and comfortable.
The T-800 Disinfection Robot can help to take some of the stress out of cleaning and reassure both staff and residents.
Government guidance regarding the COVID-19 pandemic states that to minimise the risk to residents in care homes during a period of “sustained community transition”, all care home residents being discharged from hospital or interim care facilities, alongside new residents admitted from the community, should be isolated for 14 days in their room.
Although it is recommended that residents are not moved between rooms while there is a risk of infection if it is unavoidable both spaces should be decontaminated.
