THE HISTORY OF UV-C
Over 140 years ago Downes & Blunt discovered that shorter wavelengths of the solar spectrum are more effective at neutralising microorganisms. Since then UV-C has become a proven science that has years of research in clinical settings proving its efficacy and safety for eliminating viruses, bacteria and pathogens. UV-C has been adopted widely as a proven method of decontamination and infection control. Infection control experts agree that UV-C is a crucial weapon in the battle to reduce viral outbreaks and stopping the spread of deadly disease.
SHORTER THE WAVELENGTH THE BETTER
Shorter wavelengths of the solar spectrum are effective at neutralising viruses, bacteria and pathogens. It is widely known that there are substantial germicidal and anti-bacterial effects from UV-C. Our sun emits this type of radiation; however, it never reaches earth surfaces due to our atmosphere. At Hunter UV we have harnessed the values of UV-C by creating a way where we can safely use its benefits within enclosed environments. This now means UV-C valued properties can be utilised on earths surfaces to full effect by disinfecting entire rooms.
DESTROYING THE DNA AND RNA
DNA & RNA is the genetic material that makes up all living organisms, controlling their function, development, growth and reproduction. The UV-C light technology used in the T-800 produces electromagnetic energy that destroys the ability of microorganisms to reproduce by creating chemical reactions in nucleic acids. The germicidal UV light triggers the formation of specific thymine or cytosine dimers in DNA and uracil dimers in RNA, which causes inactivation of the pathogen by causing mutations which kills the cells making the pathogen able to reproduce. This subsequently now makes the pathogen longer infectious or a threat to human life.
DISINFECT ANY AREA
The T-800 Disinfection Robot, powered by UV-C light technology, has created a significant breakthrough in germicidal protection. The T-800 gives people the ability to disinfect wide areas of communal spaces with speed and efficiency. People can now create safe, virus-free environments to work, play and socialise in thanks to the T-800’s technology of utilising UV-C light.
The T-800 disinfection cycles work on the principle of The Inverse Square Law. Light and energy are susceptible to The Inverse Square Law. The field intensity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source. This is due to the flux emanating from the source, and that these flux lines become more spaced out when the distance from the source is increased, thus reducing the effect over a distance. The T-800 produces more power to kill pathogens quickly over a larger distance to help counter the inverse square law to get maximum coverage in as little time as possible.
